Batch Distillation: Design and Operation (Series on Chemical Engineering Vol. 3)

Batch Distillation: Design and Operation

(Series on Chemical Engineering Vol. 3)

Batch Distillation: Design and Operation (Series on Chemical Engineering Vol. 3)

The batch distillation process has existed for many centuries. It is perhaps the oldest technology for separating or purifying liquid mixtures and is the most frequently used separation method in batch processes. In the last 25 years, with continuous development of faster computers and sophisticated numerical methods, there have been many published works using detailed mathematical models with rigorous physical property calculations and advanced optimisation techniques to address several important issues, such as selection of column configurations, design, operation, off-cut recycling, use of batch distillation in reactive and extractive modes, etc.
Batch Distillation: Design and Operation presents excellent, important contributions of many researchers from around the globe, including those of the author and his co-workers.

Chemical Information for Chemists: A Primer

Chemical Information for Chemists: A Primer

Chemical Information for Chemists: A Primer
This title is a critical resource for all academic and research libraries supporting a chemistry, or life or health sciences department. (L A Hall, California State University, Sacramento Choice, September 2014, Vol 52, No 01)
Three years ago and after 20+ years doing other forms of librarianship (mostly on the administrative side of things), I was assigned to be the subject liaison to not only Chemistry but all the sciences offered for study on our campus. (Yes, our library was experiencing some issues.) The faculty have been wonderfully supportive of me despite my subject ignorance and I am learning on the job but I still feel anxious in a lot of areas, especially in Chemistry and especially doing instruction in SciFinder.
I ordered this book when I saw this thread come across the wire. It just arrived and I cracked it this weekend, coincidentally as I prepare for some instruction in, you guessed it, SciFinder!
Wow. This book is definitely addressing gaps in my understanding of the tools and content that underpin finding information in chemistry. I highly recommend it. Thank you to all the contributors … this is a life-line for me! (Leona Jacobs, University of Lethbridge, Canada Cheminf email list)

Oil: Production, Consumption and Environmental Impact (Environmental Science, Engineering and Technology)

Oil: Production, Consumption and Environmental Impact

(Environmental Science, Engineering and Technology)

Oil: Production, Consumption and Environmental Impact
This book provides comprehensive discussions on current oil issues from authors across the globe, including petroleum oil, biodiesel, and biomass derived bio-oil. Readers will find themes including new green materials for petroleum spill cleanup; state-of-the-art studies on wax precipitation problems during petroleum transportation; vegetable oils in the biodiesel industry; biodiesel production from inedible oils; the production, application, and economy of bio-oil from biomass-based feed stocks; advanced bio-oil production techniques; opportunities for biomass-derived "bio-oil", and related waste treatment, emissions and environmental impacts. Bridging the gap between research and practical applications, this book is written for engineering professionals in the petroleum and biofuels industry, academic researchers working in bioenergy, bioprocessing technology and chemical engineering, as well as anyone interested in understanding this diverse and developing theme.
